In Jammu and Kashmir, five jawans attained martyrdom in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Kandi Forest area of Rajouri district today. The encounter which broke out this morning is still underway. AIR correspondent quoting a Defence spokesperson reports that the terrorists triggered an explosive device in which initially two jawans lost their lives while four personnel including an officer sustained injuries.
The injured were evacuated to Command Hospital Udhampur where three jawans succumbed to their injuries taking the number of casualties to five. Additional teams from the vicinity have been rushed to the site of the encounter. There is a likelihood of casualties in the terrorist group. The operation is in progress. It is believed that terrorists belong to the same group that ambushed an army truck on April 20 in which at least five soldiers lost their lives and one other was injured.
