Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has said that it is due to the steel resolve of Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that modern India stands as One with pride in front of the entire world. He was delivering the annual Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture on the theme 'Saksham Bharat-Sashakt Bharat'. On the occasion of National Unity Day, Mr. Thakur saluted Sardar Patel and called him the architect of modern India. He said Sardar Patel's pragmatism, grit and determination ensured the integration of more than 500 princely states with independent India.
He added that whenever there is talk of integration of the nation, Sardar Patel's efforts to this cause are repeatedly mentioned. The Minister recalled that Sardar Patel was also the first Information and Broadcasting Minister of the country. He said his vision is reflected in the role played by Prasar Bharati in national integration. Mr Thakur further said that the Iron Man of India was a firm believer that Radio is the vehicle of national unity. Mr Thakur said that Sardar Patel played an important role in the making of the Constitution, with the dream that every citizen of the country should be empowered. He said Sardar Patel wanted to see every citizen of the country enjoy the basic amenities.
He pointed out that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a series of measures have been undertaken for the upliftment of the poor and marginalised.The Minister asserted that India is witnessing all round development today. He highlighhted that Vocal for Local is the mantra and it has given a fillip to Atmanirbhar Bharat. He added that whether it is road or rail, aviation or shipping, India is on an expansion spree with state of art technology. He further stated that India is showcasing its potential as a role model for the entire world.
