Government today said that free food grains have been supplied to about 95 per cent of the total migrants under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme.

In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the Government in May this year had announced a set of economic measures under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package to help mitigate workers across the country.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry said, a total quantity of about 2,65,000 tonnes of food grains has been successfully distributed under the scheme up to 31st August by all States and Union Territories.

The Ministry said, free food grains have been supplied to about 95 per cent of the total of 2 crore 80 lakh migrants, estimated by States and UTs.
