Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today virtually flagged off the first SpiceJet flight from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, this will open up the potential for employment, tourism, better connectivity for students.

It will further act as an economic multiplier for Visakhapatnam.

Mr Scindia said, better aerial connectivity is being pushed to the hinterlands of India through the policy of UDAN - Ude Desh Ka Aam NAgrik.

He further added that as on date, Visakhapatnam is now connected with 10 cities with 302 aircraft movements.

The Minister said, in a short span of seven years, the number of airports in the country have gone up from 60 in 2016 to 136 in 2021.
