Two-day National Seminar on ‘Regulations and Governance issues in Indian Seed Sector’ begins in New Delhi
The week-long campaign run by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the High Commission of India in Dhaka concluded on Friday. The Campaign was conducted to popularise the concept of ‘Mission Life’ or Lifestyle for Environment. It ended with a seminar on the topic, ‘Mission Life: Bringing Individual Behaviours at the forefront of the global climate action narrative’.
Eminent activists working in the field of environmental awareness took part in the seminar. People from various walks of life, youth, students and organisations working in the field of environmental protection took part in the proceedings.
‘Mission Life’ was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the UN Climate Change Conference at Glasgow in 2021. Subsequently, Mission Life was launched by PM Modi on October 20, 2022. It is envisioned as an India-led global mass movement that will nudge individual and collective action to protect and preserve the environment and ensure sustainable development. Launching it in 2022, Prime Minister Modi had said that Mission LiFE makes the fight against climate change democratic, in which everyone can contribute with their respective capacities.
Mission LiFE is designed with the objective to mobilise at least one billion Indians and other global citizens to take individual and collective action for protecting and preserving the environment in the period 2022 to 2027.
Phase-1 of the ‘Mission-Life’ programme focuses on change in demand by nudging individuals, communities and institutions to practise simple environment-friendly actions (LIFE actions) in their daily lives. The actions included under the mission are related to saving energy, water, reducing the single use plastic, adoption of a sustainable food system, and reduction of waste among others.
