Asian markets today ended with gains except for Japan's Nikkei-225 which declined 0.3 percent. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index surged 1.6 percent, Singapore's Straits Times index rose 0.6 percent and South Korea's Kospi added 0.1 percent. China's Shanghai Composite Index was closed on account of public holidays.
European markets were trading up in intra-day trade. Germany's DAX gained 0.9 percent, France's CAC-40 rose 0.8 percent and London's FTSE-100 was trading half a percent up when reports last came.
