Asian markets end mostly higher

Asian markets ended mostly higher, today. Japan’s Nikkei-225 index and South Korea’s Kospi index ended 1.5 percent higher; but China’s Shanghai Composite index shed 0.1 percent; while Singapore’s Straits Times index inched up 0.3 percent. Stock market in Hong Kong was closed for a holiday.

In Europe, stocks extended gains, boosted by technology and mining stocks, on expectations of a strong earnings season even as investors were wary of higher inflation. London’s FTSE-100 had climbed 0.7 percent; while France’s CAC-40 and Germany’s DAX had added 0.6 percent, each.
