Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host T20 World Cup final

AIR
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host the T20 World Cup final in November this year.

The BCCI has zeroed in on eight venues in all for the October-November T20 Cup, which include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Dharamshala.

Moreover, the Pakistan cricket team will have no difficulty in travelling to India for the ICC T20 World Cup as the government is set to grant visas to the players from the neighbouring nation.

It has been learnt that BCCI secretary Jay Shah has informed the Apex Council about government's decision on giving visas to the Pakistan players.

India and Pakistan have not played bilateral series for many years now due to political tension between two countries.

PCB chairman Ehsan Mani had earlier said that they are looking for visas for not just the players and the media but also for their fans.

Whether fans will be allowed to travel across the border is still not clear because given the Covid-19 situation worldwide, there is very little chance that spectators would be allowed inside stadiums.

In another major development, BCCI, in principle, has decided to field both the men’s and the women’s teams at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics if the game is included in the roster.

The women's team will also compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Pakistan have clinched the four-match T20 International series against South Africa, defeating the hosts by three wickets at Centurion.

A quick-fire 60 by Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz’s unbeaten 25 towards the end helped Pak to chase down the target of 144 with just a ball remaining.

Nawaz scored the winning six off Lizaad Williams to complete second successive series victory over South Africa, having won the ODI series 2-1 earlier.
