BMC seals 1,305 buildings after issuing fresh guidelines to curb spread of Novel Coronavirus

In the wake of the rising cases of the Coronavirus in Mumbai since last week, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started taking stringent action. The city civic body has sealed as many as 1,305 buildings within two days after issuing fresh guidelines to curb the spread of Novel Coronavirus.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Mumbai civic body stated that there are as many as 71,838 households residing in these sealed buildings. The BMC commissioner I. S. Chahal had instructed the concerned authorities to seal the building, if there are five cases the building.
Earlier, when the cases were on a decline the BMC was sealing only the floor. Off the 1,305 building, T- Ward that is eastern suburb Mulund is seen having the maximum numbers of sealed buildings and floors i.e. 233, followed by N -Ward that is Ghatkopar and P -South Goregaon having 125 sealed buildings/floors. Today, the financial capital registered 2,749 fresh COVID-19 cases. It is the highest single-day spike in infections in metropolis since December.
