Under Jal Jeevan Mission, 9.34 crore rural households have been provided the tap water connections till July 15 this year. A little over 64 percent of rural households in the country now have a tap water supply. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today,  the Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel said that nine States and Union Territories, 140 districts, 1432 blocks, 82,250 Gram panchayats, and 1,72,757 villages are reported as Har Ghar Jal as on July 15 this year.
 
When the Jal Jeevan mission was launched in August 2019, there were 3.23 crore rural households with tap water connections. As on date, out of 19.46 crore rural households in the country, around 12.57 crore households have now tap water supply in their homes. The Minister informed that as reported by the states, almost all the works have been awarded for providing household tap water connections under the mission.
