Unbridled enthusiasm and patriotic fervour marked the Independence Day celebrations in Lakshadweep. People, swelling with national pride, participated in large numbers in the celebrations held at the Kavaratty School Stadium ground this morning.
 
Advisor to the Lakshadweep Administrator Sandeep Kumar unfurled the tricolour and reviewed the parade. Similar celebrations were held at all  ten inhabited islands of Lakshadweep.
 
In Kochi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral M A Hampiholi laid a wreath at the War Memorial at the Naval Base in honour of all naval personnel, who made  the supreme sacrifice for the nation and reviewed  the parade. The Presidential Colours awarded to INS Dronacharya, was displayed on the occasion.
