77th Independence Day being celebrated with patriotic fervor in Tripura; CM Dr. Manik Saha hoists tri-colour at Assam Rifles ground in Agartala

The 77th Independence Day is being celebrated with patriotic fervor in Tripura. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hoisted the tri-colour at the main programme at Assam Rifles ground in Agartala in the presence of cabinet ministers, senior officials from government and police department. 

Akashvani Agartala correspondent reports that while addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said, the state has declared 20 percent women millionaire Didis from the self-help groups. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that 80 thousand rural women will be added this year in the self-help groups in the state. He said, there are total over 46 thousand SHGs in the state where more than 4 lakh 13 women are involved. The Chief Minister Dr. Saha said the World Bank has sanctioned funds of 1 thousand 400 crore rupees for the Tripura Rural Economy Growth and Sustainable Service delivery project. The main purpose of this project is to bring about development in the lives of tribal people. He highlighted that the state has witnessed excellent development in last five years.

After hoisting the national flag, the chief minister inspected the guard of honour from Tripura police, Assam Rifles, Meghalaya police and others. He then took a salute from the parade which marched on some popular patriotic songs by enthralling one and all at the Assam Rifles ground. Followed by this, the dance troupes mesmerized the gathering with their performance on patriotic songs in Bangla and Kokborok languages.    
 
The Independence Day celebration was also held at the official residence of CM Dr. Saha where he unfurled the tricolor. The tricolor was also unfurled at Government, non-government institutions, offices of political parties, various clubs and social organisations across the state. The day began with the flag hoisting ceremony at state secretariat where power and agriculture minister Ratanlal Nath paid floral tributes and hoisted the tricolor at the Gandhi Statue near circuit house.

Also, he also paid rich tributes at Shaheed Bedi in the city. Later, he also paid tributes to the martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle at the Albert Ekka War Memorial. Bike rallies, prabhat pheri was organized in different parts of the city. Patriotic songs are being played since last evening at various junctions in the city. A glimpse of national tricolor can be seen on each and every apartment, shop and main square in the city infusing affection and love for the motherland.
