Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, 72 thousand infrastructure projects worth over 76 thousand crore rupees have been built across the country. The scheme was launched in 2020 to develop post-harvest management infrastructure to reduce losses, realise better value for farmers, foster innovation in agriculture, and attract investments for agricultural infrastructure.
He said, that under the Scheme, one lakh crore rupees were provided to eligible borrowers by banks and financial institutions. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Mr Chouhan said, the government is making proper arrangements for storage so that farmers can get a fair price for their crops. He said, the government is continuously working to increase the crop production of farmers. The Minister said, the agricultural growth rate in the country is at around four per cent and there is a large stock of food grains in the country.
