Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said the country has witnessed a massive transformation in internal security during the last 10 years. There has been a record 70% decrease in violence in the three major violence-prone hotspots of the country including Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Naxal affected region. The death rate has also decreased by 72% in these regions the Minister added.

The Minister was addressing after inaugurating the new building of Ahmedabad City police headquarters.

The Minister added that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi the government is focusing on proactive policing and scientific approach. The government has revised the age-old criminal laws to encourage the use of technology in criminal justice.

The Minister launched the people-centric ‘Tera tujhko Arpan portal’ of Ahmedabad police for cyber crimes. The Union Minister will inaugurate the vibrant Gujarat Navratri festival at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad later today.
