In Ladakh, the 5th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games concluded today. During the event competitions were held for two winter sports categories- Ice Hockey and Ice Skating at three venues NDS Stadium, Gupuk Lakes and LSRC ground in Leh. Teams from the Union Territory of Ladakh won a total tally of 7 Medals including four Gold, Two Silver and One Bronze. The event also provided a significant platform for young athletes to display their talents on a national stage, furthering the vision of making India a sporting powerhouse.
More than 400 athletes from across the country participated in the Khelo India events in Ladakh. Cultural Performances showcasing the rich heritage of Ladakh were part of these events that brought enthusiasm among the audience.
The Khelo India Winter Games aimed to promote winter sports in the region, showcase the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh and Boost winter Tourism. The second leg of Khelo India will be held in the famous Ski- Resort Gulmarg of Jammu Kashmir next month.
