The 4th Mekong Ganga Dhamma Yatra which marks a century of Dhamma has reached Bihar. Governor of Bihar Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar welcomed the delegates of the pilgrimage from Thailand at Rajbhavan last night and held a dialogue with members.
Mr. Arlekar addressed the delegation and he remembered the warmth and devotion of Thai people which was witnessed during Thailand’s visit with holy relics of Lord Buddha for a 26 day exposition in Thailand. The main purpose of this yatra is to bring together people of two countries India and Thailand.
The Dhammayatra will convey the gratitude of Thai people to India for the gift of Dhamma almost 2300 years ago and also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending the Holy Relics to Thailand earlier this year.
After Patna the pilgrimage will visit Bodhgaya, New Delhi and Surat. Supachai Verapuchong of Bodhigaya Vijalaya 989 Institute is leading the delegation which will complete the pilgrimage on 10th December. More than 20 members are undertaking the Dhammayatra.
