38th National Games Highlights

The 38th National Games, currently underway in Uttarakhand, are delivering thrilling moments as athletes from across the country showcase their exceptional performances. Various competitions in Haldwani, Dehradun, and other locations are witnessing remarkable displays of skill. Today, athletics and gymnastics competitions took center stage, while the exhibition sport of rafting also commenced. Meanwhile, the Lawn Bowls tournament concluded.

 

In the Modern Pentathlon Laser Run event, host state Uttarakhand’s athletes put on a stellar show, clinching five gold medals. In the 10,000-meter race held in Dehradun, athletes from across the country displayed their endurance and skill. Himachal Pradesh’s Sawan Barwal secured the gold medal in the men’s category, proving his excellence, while Maharashtra’s Sanjivani Jadhav dominated the women’s race to claim gold.

Several other athletics events also saw intense competition. In the Women’s Discus Throw (1kg), Haryana’s Seema emerged victorious with a gold medal. Meanwhile, in the Men’s Discus Throw (2kg), Gagandeep Singh from Services clinched the top spot. Tamil Nadu athletes dominated the Women’s Pole Vault event, securing both gold and silver medals. Uttar Pradesh’s Shahnawaz showcased his talent by winning gold in the Men’s Long Jump.

The Men’s 1500-meter race saw Services’ Yunus Shah claim the gold medal, while in the Women’s category, Delhi’s Chandana secured first place. In the highly competitive 100-meter sprint, Odisha’s Animesh Kujur sprinted to gold in the men’s category, while Maharashtra’s Sudeshna Shivankar took the top honor in the women’s event.

Taekwondo matches were equally thrilling, with intense battles in the Poomsae event. Arunachal Pradesh’s female athletes dominated, securing the gold medal.

Meanwhile, the Lawn Bowls competition at the National Games concluded today, with Jharkhand delivering an outstanding performance to top the medal tally. In the Men’s Singles Final, Jharkhand defeated Bihar, while in the Men’s Fours event, Jharkhand triumphed over West Bengal with a 17-10 victory. Bihar secured gold in the Women’s Triples event by edging past West Bengal 16-14, whereas Assam claimed the gold in the Women’s Pairs event, defeating Odisha 19-10. Looking at the medal table, Services is at the top with 41 gold medals and has a gap of eleven gold medals from its nearest rival Karnataka.
