The BSF said that as many as 373 Indian students and three Nepali students have crossed over from the two Integrated Check Posts (ICP) in Tripura yesterday from Bangladesh. Due to the violent anti-quota stir in Bangladesh since last few days and growing law and order situation the students are returning back to their motherland.
Addressing the media, Inspector General of Tripura Frontier, Patel Piyush Purusottam Das said that around 300 students returned from the Srimantpur Integrated Check post in Sonamura district; while 76 returned via Akhaura ICP. He said, another batch of 300 students will return to the country from the two ICPs in Tripura today. Large number of Indian students are pursuing medical studies in Bangladesh.
The Inspector General said that the BSF has augmented the resources at the border and is working in close coordination with the local police to prevent criminal elements from taking any undue advantage. He added out of the 856 kilometer Indo-Bangla border in Tripura 95 per cent fencing has been completed and work is underway at 27.5 kilometer unfenced area.
