In Kerala, 34 persons accused of indulging in violence and setting fire to the Forest Range Office at Thamarassery in 2013 were acquitted by the Special Additional Sessions Court in Kozhikode today.
The Forest Range Office at Thamarassery was set ablaze on November 15, 2013, in protest against the implementation of the Kasthurirangan Committee Report on Western Ghats. Many witnesses, including officials, had turned hostile during the trial. The prosecution had to depend on certified copies of documents obtained from the court, as the case dairy was found missing from the court.
