3 more political organisations disassociate from Hurriyat

Three more political organisations in Jammu and Kashmir have disassociated themselves from the separatist Hurriyat Conference. These include the Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and the Kashmir Freedom Front. In a social media post, Union Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed the move. He said this is a strong reflection of the people’s trust in the Constitution of India. Mr. Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a united and strong Bharat stands further reinforced, as so far, eleven organisations have distanced themselves from separatism.

The Union Home Minister is on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He arrived in Jammu on Sunday and visited the Vinay Border Outpost in the Kathua district, where he reviewed the security situation along the International Border with Pakistan.

Soon after reaching Kashmir last evening, Mr. Shah visited the residence of Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Muzamil, who was martyred during a terrorist encounter in Kokernag.

Today, the Home Minister will chair a high-level meeting in Srinagar to review key developmental projects. He will also lead a comprehensive security review, including preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, which begins on 3rd July.
