Three Maoists have been killed in an encounter with security forces today in the border area of the Dantewada and Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh. One of these Maoists has been identified as Sudhir, alias Sudhakar. He was active as a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee.
A reward of twenty-five lakh rupees was declared on him. A reward of two lakh rupees each was declared on the two other Maoists killed today. Superintendent of Police of Dantewada district Gaurav Rai said that the police had received intelligence information about the presence of some Maoists in the Abujhmad area. After this, various security forces conducted a joint operation in this area.
So far, 100 Maoists have been killed in various encounters with security forces this year in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh.
