3 killed by hand-held radios explosion in Lebanon

In a new wave of explosions across Lebanon, at least three individuals were killed today when hand-held radios exploded at various locations across the country’s south and in Beirut’s southern suburbs. As per media reports, a lot of ambulance activity was seen in Beirut.

Over a thousand people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were injured yesterday in similar blasts in pagers. Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad said today that the death toll in these blasts has risen to 12, including two children.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi accused Israel of pushing West Asia to the brink of a regional war by orchestrating a dangerous escalation on many fronts.

Since the escalation of the Gaza conflict last October, Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have been locked in cross-border warfare, marking the worst such violence in years.
