The government has said that 25 per cent of the Indian contingent at the forthcoming Paris Summer Olympics 2024 are Khelo India Athletes. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said this in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today. He said, that out of a total 117 athletes, 28 athletes of Khelo India will participate in the Olympic Games 2024. Dr Mandaviya said, a total of over one thousand Khelo India Centres and 302 Accredited Academies have already been sanctioned across the country. He said, under the Khelo India Scheme, several initiatives have been taken to identify and nurture untapped sporting talent, particularly among children and youth from rural areas.
