A total of 2,463 security personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles (AR) have lost their lives on duty between 2021 and 2023. Of which, 112 had died in action, while 2,351 died on duty, excluding those killed in action. In a written reply in Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said benefits are provided to the families or next of kin of CAPFs and AR personnel who sacrifice their lives for the nation. The benefits include the ex-gratia lump-sum compensation enhanced from 15 lakh to 35 lakh rupees for death on active duty and from 10 lakh to 25 lakh rupees for death on duty.
