22 Telangana districts record temperatures above 40°C

In Telangana, 22 out of the state’s 33 districts have recorded maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C with the ongoing heatwave intensifying across the state. 
 
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, Asifabad registered the highest temperature at 42.4 degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours. 
 
Several other places also witnessed soaring temperatures, with Neradigonda in Adilabad district, Mandamarri in Mancherial district, and Veernapalle in Rajanna Sircilla district recording 41.5 degrees Celsius. 
 
Some places in Wanaparthy district reported 41.3 degrees Celsius, while some in Nagarkurnool district registered 41.2 degrees Celsius. Seventeen other districts reported temperatures ranging between 40°C and 41°C, highlighting the severity of the heatwave. 
 
The state capital city, Hyderabad, also felt the impact of the rising mercury. Some places in the city and surrounding areas recorded a maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius. 
 
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow heatwave alert for several districts in the state.
