The Asian stocks displayed a mixed trend as two out of five major indices ended higher. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng advanced more than one per cent and Singapore’s Straits Times Index rose more than half per cent. Meanwhile, Japan’s Nikkei slipped more than one per cent. Markets in China and South Korea were closed.

Major European Indices were trading in positive territory. London’s FTSE was trading 0.6 per cent up, Germany’s DAX and France’s CAC 40 added more than half per cent, when reports last came in.
