Two out of three US indices ended nearly flat yesterday, driven by losses in industrials, materials, and utilities stocks.

The S&P 500 ended with a marginal fall of 0.02 per cent; the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 0.05 per cent, while the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.18 per cent.
