A total of 18 people were rescued after a fire broke out on a fishing trawler off the coast of Alibag in Maharashtra’s Raigad district today. The mishap occurred early in the morning while the trawler was approximately seven nautical miles from Alibag’s Akshi coast. Police said a distress call was sent from a trawler owned by Rakesh Gan, prompting a swift response from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and Raigad police. All 18 individuals aboard the vessel were safely rescued and brought ashore.
