1,592 Rescued in Wayanad; 82 Relief Camps Set Up Amid Ongoing Evacuation Efforts: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan 

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today said that 1592 persons rescued from the landslide-hit areas of Wayanad have been accommodated in seven relief camps in the district. Addressing media persons in Thiruvananthapuram, he said efforts to evacuate people from the affected region are progressing well. Tribal families from the affected region are also being evacuated, and those unwilling to move out are being supplied with food items. 

 

Altogether, 82 relief camps have been opened in the district, where over 8000 people have been accommodated. Currently, relief efforts in the Mundakkai area are given top priority, followed by Attamala and Chooralmala. More medical teams are also arranged to be dispatched to Wayanad.
