The government said that 12 crore 75 lakh rural households have got tap water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the country. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of state for Jal Shakti Ministry Prahlad Singh Patel said that at the time of announcement of the scheme in 2019, 3 crore 23 lakh rural families had tap water connections. He said that so far nearly 70 percent of rural households have tap water connections under JJM. He said that several states including Gujrat, Telengana, and Haryana among others have provided 100 percent rural tap water connections.
