106th anniversary of end of First World War observed in Puducherry

The 106th anniversary of the end of the First World War was observed in Puducherry today with a solemn tribute at the French War Memorial on Beach Road. Consul General-designate at the Consulate General of France in Puducherry and Chennai, Etienne Rolland-Piegue, and Puducherry District Collector A. Kulothungan paid homage by placing floral wreaths at the memorial. The event, jointly organized by the Government of Puducherry and the French Consulate, honored the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the First World War. The ceremony was marked by the hoisting of the national flags of India and France, followed by the playing of both national anthems. A moment of silence was observed to pay respects to the fallen heroes, signifying the shared history and friendship between India and France.
