The Modi 3.0 government has completed its first 100 days after coming to power for a historic third term. During this period, the government launched projects worth 15 lakh crore rupees with a focus on the middle class, infrastructure, farmers, women, and youth. The government took several steps to empower the middle class in the country. The Narendra Modi government has accorded high priority to the middle class. The income up to seven lakh is tax-free, and an increase in the standard deduction from 50 thousand to 75 thousand rupees is benefiting crores of taxpayers.
A comprehensive review of the Income Tax Act was initiated to simplify it and make it people-friendly. The Modi government has assured a 50 per cent pension to 23 lakh Central Government employees under the Unified Pension Scheme(UPS). One Rank One Pension was revised to ensure the welfare of retired defence personnel and their families. Custom duty on gold and silver was reduced to six per cent and on platinum to 6.4 per cent to provide relief to the middle class. Solar systems are installed in 3.5 lakh houses under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which is increasing savings for the middle class.
Mudra Loan limit doubled from 10 lakh to 20 lakh rupees, boosting entrepreneurship. One crore houses were sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban with a Central Government subsidy of 2.3 lakh crore rupees. Metro projects worth 30 thousand 700 crore rupees were sanctioned for Pune, Thane, and Bengaluru to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time. There will be procurement of E-Buses under the PM E-Bus Sewa Payment Security Mechanism with a support of three thousand 400 crore rupees for an environment-friendly transport system.
