10 days long Mysuru Dasara to conclude with grand Jamboo Savari procession

The 10 days long Mysuru Dasara will conclude with a grand Jamboo Savari procession this evening. The tradition of celebrating Dasara is dated back to the Vijayanagara empire during the 14th and 15 Centuries and later followed by the Wodeyars royalty in Mysuru. The State Government has continued the tradition. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will offer floral obeisance to Goddess chamundeshwari placed in the 750 kg golden howdah carried by Dasara elephant Abhimanyu during the Kumbha lagna. Mysuru Dasara is attended by lakhs of visitors from India and abroad.

Dasara Jamboo Savari procession during the Vijayadasami day will consist of caparisoned elephants, cultural troupes, folk artists, tableaux and police marching troupes. The festive extravaganza will conclude with a breathtaking drone and laser display, torchlight parade and bursting of crackers.
