Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that all 645 Indians evacuated from New Corona Virus hit Wuhan city of China have tested negative for the Covid-2019. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, he said, all three persons who tested positive for Covid-2019 in Kerala are now stable. Dr Harsh Vardhan said, agencies are monitoring the cases very minutely and have traced their contact history. He said, PMO and other concerned ministries are closely monitoring the situation and added that all states have been informed regarding guidelines.

The Health Minister also informed that India is sending essential items like medical equipment to China as a goodwill gesture to tackle Covid-2019. He said India has also extended support to Maldives in testing samples and Bhutan in managing Covid-2019. Dr Harsh Vardhan said, the government has also agreed to support Afghanistan in testing samples.

The Indian embassy in Japan said, the condition of two Indian crew infected with Covid 2019 on board a cruise ship off the Japanese coast is stable and improving. It said, the Indian nationals are currently in a medical facility under quarantine as per the Japanese health protocol. They will be put to another round of tests in the next few days and further treatment will be carried out based on the results. A total of 138 Indians, including 132 crew and six passengers, were on board the ship. The Indian embassy was in touch with the Japanese authorities to ensure the welfare of Indian nationals on board the ship.


Meanwhile, China has reported 63,767 confirmed cases of COVID-19 while 505 cases have been reported from 24 other countries. The death toll in China stands at 1,487 while 2 deaths have been reported abroad. Japan and Philippines have 1 death case each.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold delegation level talks with President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in New Delhi today. The visiting dignitary will meet President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan who will host a banquet in his honour. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will also call on the Portuguese President. The visiting dignitary will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. He will also visit Mahatma Gandhi's samadhi at Rajghat. Mr de Sousa arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a four-day visit to India. During his visit, the Portuguese President will also travel to Maharashtra and Goa. More from our Correspondent:-

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the first phase of the East-West Metro in Kolkata yesterday evening. The passenger services in this 5.8 Kilometers stretch between Salt Lake's Sector five and Salt Lake Stadium will begin today. Mr Goyal announced that remaining 10.6 Kilometer strerch of the East - West Metro will be completed by December 2021.


"मेट्रो का सबसे बड़ा लाभ इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सेक्टर के जो हमारे युवा, युवती काम कर रहे हैं, उन सबको पहले फेज का मिलेगा। माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी जी का सपना है, सबका साथ सबका विकास और सबका विश्वास। और उसी विश्वास को आगे बढ़ाते हुए विकास को तेज गति देना यही इस ईस्-वेस् कॉरिडोर के पहले फेज के इनोग्रेशन में झलकता है।"

More than 2,400 crore rupees have been spent for the first phase of the East - West Metro. On completion, it will connect the two old cities of Kolkata and Howrah. It will be the Country's first under water train line where trains will ply in tunnels under the river Hooghly.

Indian Railway’s PSU IRCTC has started booking of tickets for the third corporate train Kashi Mahakal Express. This train will run between Varanasi and Indore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the train from Varanasi on Sunday. DRM Northern Railways Sanjay Tripathi told AIR that routine continuous commercial runs will start from the 20th of this month. More from our correspondent:


"The train will connect three Jyotirlinga - Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar and Kashi Vishwanath besides also connecting the industrial and educational hub of Indore and Bhopal the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Chief Regional Manager of IRCTC Ashwini Shrivastava told AIR that this train will operate thrice a week between Varanasi and Indore via Ujjain, Bhopal, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Sultanpur. Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy's son-in-law, Rishi Sunak has been appointed as UK's Finance Minister. He replaced Pakistani Chancellor Sajid Javid. After the reshuffle yesterday, three Indian origin Members of Parliament are now a part of Britain's most diverse cabinet led by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.


The 47 year old Priti Patel has been appointed as the Home Minister. The 51 year old Alok Sharma has been appointed as the Business Secretary in the British Cabinet. Sharma was elevated to the role of the secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy. 


Along with these three, 15 Indian-origin MPs are among 65 non-whites elected to the new 650-member House of Commons, reflecting 10 per cent of its strength.

The US Senate last night voted to restrain President Donald Trump from attacking Iran. The resolution, which requires Trump to seek explicit authorization from the Congress before further hostilities with Iran, passed in similar form in the Democratic-led House of Representatives. But it faces a near-certain veto from Trump after it goes back through the House.


The resolution passed 55-45, with eight Republicans joining the Democrats. The resolution asks the President to go to Congress for explicit authorization to attack Iran, but makes an exception for defending against an imminent threat.

Home Minister Amit Shah has said the Delhi election result is not a mandate on Citizenship Amendment Act, CAA and National Register of Citizens, NRC. Participating in a programme organized by a private news channel last evening, Mr Shah said, controversial statements during the election campaign should not have been made and the party has distanced itself from such remarks. He said, BJP does not fight elections only for the results and the objective is to spread the party's agenda to maximum people. Mr Shah said, BJP has accepted the mandate put forth by the people of Delhi.


"सिर्फ जय-पराजय के लिए हम नहीं लड़ते और जहां तक परिणामों का सवाल है, मैं बिल्कुल विनम्रता से स्वीकार करता हूं कि हम चुनाव हारे हैं और एक जिम्मेदार विपक्ष के नाते दिल्ली में बैठकर बड़े स्पीरिट से ये सरकार ढंग से चले, इसकी चिंता करेंगे।"

In Uttar Pradesh, the Lucknow district administration has issued notices to 13 persons for recovery of over 21 lakh rupees as damages for vandalising public property during the anti-CAA protests in the state capital on December the 19th. Lucknow Commissioner Mukesh Meshram said, they have been asked to deposit the fine within 30 days. A total recovery of 4.5 crore rupees has to be made to offset the damage caused during the anti-CAA stir in the state capital.

Ladakh has been paired with Tamil Nadu Under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Programme. Our Leh correspondent has filed this report:


"Ladakh has a unique cultural Identity and to show case the rich and composite culture aspect of Ladakh, UT  Administration of Art, Culture and Language Academy Leh under the Ek Bhart Shrestha Bhart programme organized culture trip to Tamil Naidu. Mr Tsewang Paljor Special officer for culture, Cultural Academy Leh will tell us more about the Programme.


Jammu and Kashmir had the opportunity for cultural exchange under this programme with Tamil Nadu state. The troop was led by me and it was comprised of around 87 artists representing different regions of the then Jammu and Kashmir state, and we have been given opportunity to perform at various historic as well important cultural sites in the state of Tamil Nadu. In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have busted a terrorist hideout and seized arms and ammunition in Poonch district.


Officials said, police, along with the 39 Romeo Force, launched a cordon-and-search operation at Kunaiyan in Poonch and busted the terrorist hideout.


Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Poonch, Ramesh Angral said the Special Operation Group of the police, along with Rashtriya Rifle troops of the Army, carried out the operation.


The SSP added that one AK 47 rifle, a magazine, a Chinese pistol and a pistol magazine were seized.

Home Minister Amit Shah paid homage to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack. It was on this day last year, 40 CRPF personnel were martyred in a terror attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. In a tweet, Mr. Shah said, India will forever be grateful to the bravehearts and their families who made the supreme sacrifice for the sovereignty and integrity of the motherland.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid homage. In a tweet, he said India will never forget their sacrifice.

In Tennis, Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov have entered the semi finals of Men's Doubles event at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament last night. The duo defeated fourth seeds and 2015 champions Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 in the Netherlands. Bopanna and Shapovalov will now meet the winners of Henri Kontinen and Jan-Lennard Struff versus Jamie Murray and Ken Skupski in the semi-finals.

  • "8-phase J&K panchayat by poll for over 12,000 seats in March" states the Tribune, adding "45% decline in militancy in valley last year.

  • "Soil from homes of all 40 slain at Pulwama, in one urn". The Times of India carries the story of Umesh Gopinath Jadhav, who traveled across India collecting soil from outside the homes of each jawan who lost his life.
