On the 2nd day of Public the outreach programme in Jammu and Kashmir today, nine Union Ministers are visiting different blocks of Jammu division to meet people on the ground and seek their feedback on various developmental initiatives and schemes. Ministers will also inaugurate several developmental projects besides listening to public grievances. This is a part of the central government's special public outreach programme to disseminate information about the importance of its policies for the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir and its people. On the first day of the programme yesterday Union Ministers Dr Jitendra Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Ashwini Kumar Choubey visited Jammu and Samba districts and inaugurated several projects. The ministers reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir has seen a new dawn of development since the abrogation of article 370 and it will see an exemplary development in the coming years.


"The Ministers visiting different blocks of Jammu division today include Smriti Irani, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Arjun ram meghwal, V muralidharan, Anurag Singh thakur, Dr Jitendra Singh, Piyush goyal, Ashwani Chaubey and R K Singh they will visit Katra, Panthal, Dhansal, Basoli, Dilabar, Nagrota, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Jagwal and Chilari blocks in the late last night Arjun ram meghwal met Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and discuss the initiatives for reaching out to the people, review to strengthen the roots of democracy beside trying investment and establishment industry in Jammu and Kashmir for suplimenting Economic growth and creating employment opportunities. Meanwhile, Pre-paid mobile connections were restored in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday and 2G services resumed in two districts of Kashmir valley after being disconnected in August last year. J&K Official Spokesperson Rohit Kansal has said that the Voice and SMS facilities were restored for all local pre-paid mobile phones across the Union Territory.


"Competent Authority has ordered today that voice and SMS facility in order to consider provision of Mobile Internet connectivity on such SIM card that telecome service providers shall initiate the process of verification of credentials for these subscribers as per available norms for post paid subscribers."

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has assured Members of Parliament that India is safeguarding its interests in its neighbourhood. The Minister was briefing members of the Consultative Committee on External Affairs in New Delhi yesterday. In a tweet, Dr Jaishankar described the briefing as animated discussion on the neighbourhood and beyond and said he shared his thinking and assessment on contemporary issues. Biju Janata Dal MP Sasmit Patra, a member of the committee, said interactions were very meaningful, insightful and intense. BJP MP, GVL Narasimha Rao praised Dr Jaishankar, saying as an accomplished diplomat and a hugely successful minister, he fielded questions of all members with immaculate finesse, clarity and vision. Congress leader and former Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor described the meeting as lively.

In another case, Enforcement Directorate has filed charge sheet against the Chairman cum Managing Director of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL) and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED said, the court, found sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused persons. At present the accused Chairman, who was arrested by ED in November last year , is in judicial custody. During the investigation, the ED also attached property worth over 204 crore rupees in the form of movable and immovable properties in Delhi and London.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties worth five crore rupees of former Bahujan Samaj Party Minister Rangnath Mishra in a disproportionate assets case under Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED has attached a residential plot of Mishra and his family members in Allahabad. Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Department had registered an FIR following investigation that revealed acquisition of disproportionate assets by Mishra during his tenure as Minister for Home and Secondary Education Minister between 2007 and 2011.

Uttar Pradesh BJP has launched a mass campaign in support of Citizenship Amendment Act across the state. Several ministers and prominent leaders will carry out a door to door campaign in Lucknow to muster support for the CAA and also invite people for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's rally on the 21st January in the state capital. Another large rally as part of Jan Jagran Abhiyan will be held today in Gorakhpur which wil be addressed by state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other party leaders.

Students, teachers and parents across India are eagerly awaiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interaction programme 'Pariksha Pe Charcha-2020'. The event will be held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi tomorrow.


Over two thousand students, parents and teachers will be participating from all over the country. Mr Modi will answer questions and interact with selected students about how they can beat examination stress.


In January 2019, during the second edition of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' programme, the Prime Minister said that expectations are essential. Mr Modi said, we cannot live in an atmosphere of despair and unhappiness. 


"जहां तक अपेक्षाओं का सवाल है। एक प्रकार से अपेक्षाएं अच्छी चीज है। मैंने कहा बालक को मां दूर रहकर दौड़ाती है, वो अपेक्षा है कि तुम दस कदम दौड़कर मेरे पास आओ। अपेक्षा आवश्यक होती है। आपेक्षाओं के कारण हमें भी कुछ ज्यादा करने की इच्छा जगती है। अगर अपेक्षाएं नहीं होगी तो निराशा की गर्त में डूबा हुआ समाज या व्यक्ति या परिवार कभी किसी का भला कर सकता है और इसलिए आशा और अपेक्षा उर्ध् गति के लिए अनिवार्य होती है।"


Talking to AIR News, Shubham Kumar, a student of 11th Standard of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankarbagh, Patna said that Prime Minister directly communicates with students during the programme which instills positive energy.


"प्रधानमंत्री के साथ मिलना और प्रधानमंत्री के एक ऐसे कार्यक्रम का आयोजन करना। एक प्रकार से स्टूडेन्ट्स के लिए क्या सोचते हैं? ज्यादा तनाव तो यही से कम हो जाती है। फिर चाहे उनके साथ समय बिताना, तनाव कम करने में काफी मददगार साबित होती है।"


Anjum Parveen of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Darbangha, Bihar said that  Pariksha Pe Charcha programme motivates the students and builds confidence.

National Immunization Day will be observed today. President Ram Nath Kovind launched the Pulse Polio Programme for this year by administering Polio drops to children below five years at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday. Under this programme, over 17 crore children of less than five years of age across the country will be administered polio drops. Polio booths have been set up across all states which will remain open from 9 AM to 4 PM today. The programme is a part of immunization drive of the Central Government to sustain polio eradication from the country.

Joining with the rest of the country, Nagaland is launching the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization today. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in a tweet urged all parents who have children below 5 years to ensure that their children receive Polio Drops.


"Department of Health and Family Welfare Nagaland is all set geared up to administer Pulse Polio Immunization to all eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the State today. Special focus is also given to the migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of Polio cases. The department has appealed to all sections of the society, especially parents of children below five years of age to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive polio drops. Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Nripendra Misra, has been appointed as the chairperson of the executive council of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML), New Delhi. Prasar Bharati Chairman, Dr A Surya Prakash, will be Vice Chairperson of the council. Among other eminent persons who find themselves on the reconstituted executive council are Rajya Sabha members Vinay Sahasrabudhhe and Swapan Dasgupta.

In cricket, the third and final One-Day International between India and Australia will be played in Bengaluru today. The match will start at 1.30 PM. The three match series is currenting level at one all after India defeated Australia in the second ODI at Rajkot Friday.

Cold wave conditions contuinued to sweep north India. The cold wave conditions prevailed in Kashmir Valley and Ladakh. Both the Union Territories witnessed sub-zero minimum temperatures that led to frost formation on roads, causing inconvenience to motorists.


In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla received light snowfall while some parts of the state received light rain. Several tourist hotspots, including Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie, shivered at sub-zero temperatures.


Cold weather conditions continued to persist in most parts of Punjab and Haryana where a thick blanket of fog reduced visibility in the morning at a few places. In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius.


Met Department said, Delhi may receive light rain on Tuesday due to a fresh western disturbance.


Light to moderate rain and thundershower occurred at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh yesterday. Dense to very dense fog occurred at a few places over eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.


In Rajasthan, cold weather conditions continued with Ganganagar being the coldest place in the state at 3.7 degrees Celsius.

The four day 50th World Economic Forum at Davos in Switzerland will begin on Tuesday. 53 heads of state or government from 117 countries are participating in the event. The theme of this year's WEF is 'Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World'. It emphasizes Forum Founder Klaus Schwab's idea that managers have a duty to customers, suppliers and the wider economy not just dividend-hungry shareholders.
